The pedals and gears are attached but they are rusted pretty well. However the pedals will turn, it’s not seized up. Everything in the pictures comes with it. 60cm Schwinn Paramount OS Frameset

You are bidding on a used 60cm Schwinn Paramount OS frameset. One of the first Paramounts to use oversized steel tubing. This frame was assembled for a short time and has sat on the shelf for years. It is in near mint condition and is a great find for you Paramount collectors. Just look at the bottom bracket shell and the dropout faces. No dents or dings with just a couple of very minor paint chips for being stored and moved occasionally.

SCHWINN PARAMOUNT ROAD BIKE – VINTAGE ROAD BIKE – EXCELLENT – 3 DAY AUCTION

Description

THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION!!

Here for your consideration is an outstanding SCHWINN road/racing or triathlon bike in excellent condition. SCHWINN, of course, is one of the top American bike builders, and this PARAMOUNT model is one of their top of the line racing bikes. The paint is very nice, kind of a pearly white with contrasting decals, which looks very nice in the sun. The steel frame is made out of top quality TANGE STEEL, a sign of a top quality bike. Has a nice feature of through the frame cable routing too!

The bike appears to be made by Schwinn’s Paramount Design Group (PDG) in Waterford Wisconsin, and utilizes the breakthrough Schwinn OS (Oversized) tubing in the frame. Here is a quote from the Waterford website:

"Marc’s (Marc Muller) first bikes were built for Eric Heiden and the 7/11 team in 1980.

That year, Schwinn brought back the Paramount as a super-custom bike – "anything you want" for the then outrageous sum of $3,000. These became known as the "Elite" Paramounts. By 1981, enough demand had built up to justify bigger plans. Marc got the go-ahead to build a factory which, after a considerable search, landed in Waterford, Wisconsin. The new factory housed what became Paramount Design Group, or PDG. Not simply a framebuilder, PDG was to become a design laboratory for both the re-born Paramount as well as the rest of Schwinn’s product lines. Frame production grew dramatically, matching all but the boom years of the early 70′s. In addition, PDG built the Sting, Schwinn’s high-end BMX race bike."

"OS Tubing

The development of the OS tube design began in 1987 with Marc Muller and then with the collaboration of Frank Brilando. It represented one of the most important innovations in bicycle tubing since the 1930′s. One aspect of the OS tubeset is now found on many bicycles – the 1 1/4" downtube. 1 1/4" in steel represents the best combination of overal strength to weight. Anything larger and there’s no way to make the wall thin enough to reduce weight without compromising the column strength of the tubing. Without adequate column strength the rider risks suffering a particular type of structural failure known as the "beer can effect".

The OS tubeset included (and includes) much more:

The downtube enters the bottom bracket offset downward from the BB spindle by 5mm. This allows several important improvements to take place. First, it leaves more brazing surface area for both the downtube and the seattube.
The seatmast is flared at the bottom bracket. At first, Paramount flared it to 1 1/4" at the bottom bracket. Waterford seattubes only flare to 30mm. This stiffens the area around the BB shell.
The chainstay tops out at 24mm at the bottom bracket instead of the traditional 22.2mm.

These changes strengthen the bottom bracket area – where it has the most impact on pedaling. The rest of the bike can be lightened up without compromising either stiffness or durability. These other changes involved creating a special lugset as well as a special tubeset. Waterford worked with True Temper to create its special tubeset.

The addition of the OS Paramount kept up demand for Paramounts even as the overall road racing market was collapsing. Paramount continued making the "Standard" (Columbus tubing) frames through late 1990, though the OS really took over. In 1992, PDG introduced the heat treated version of the OS tubeset. Heat treating allowed PDG to lighten up the tubeset still further."

The bike is equipped with top quality SHIMANO 105 components throughout. These are all in nice condition. Has really nice MAVIC CXP14 DEEP V wheels! Wheels and tires, like the rest of the bike, are in nice condition. Also comes with clipless pedals and water bottle cages. Even has a pump mounted!

You will not be disappointed !

The frame size seems to be around 61 cm, if you use the seat tube as a sizing guide. This is a popular size for a lot of riders.

Here is your chance to get a beautiful example of this sought after top-of-the-line road/touring/racing bike for a fraction of its value. I am selling this on a 3-Day auction to raise funds for family needs, and have priced the bike to sell quickly.
I am selling the bike due to being unemployed, and for now, everything must go. I hate to sell this as it is sure to be not only a great road/tourer, but a great investment and a collectible historic piece of racing history. The bike is being sold in as-is condition. Since I am advertising this locally as well, I must reserve the right to end the auction early due to a local sale.

I have not ridden the bike, so I can’t comment on personal experience, sizing, history or fit.

The winning bidder will have the bike carefully packed, the frame and components carefully protected, and shipped insured, usually via FEDEX. A local pickup in central Florida is always welcome and appreciated.

This auction is for a vintage used 1983 Schwinn Superior Road bike. Hand built in Schwinns Waterford Wisconsin factory with Reynolds 531c tubing, quality investment cast Italian lugs and Campagnolo drop outs. This is a smooth riding steel frame which is only second in quality to the Paramount in Schwinns lineup. This bike is fully equipped with Campagnolo Nuovo Gran Sport component group which has been fully tuned by one of our shops mechanics. The Platinum Grey paint job is in excellent condition and there are no major dings or scratches on the frame. Please see photographs for details.

VINTAGE SCHWINN VARSITY CARBON BICYCLE 53 CM FRAME Schwinn Varsity 700c wheel frame set measures 20 1/4” (505 mm) tall from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of the top tube, 21 7/8″ (555 mm) to the top of the seat tube. The top tube measures 21 3/4” (555 mm) center to center, head tube is 100 mm. Main frame tubes and stays are Carbon Fiber tubing.1 1/8″ threadless headset. Seat tube inner diameter is 27.2. 68 mm square taper bolt type sealed bottom bracket installed, spindle measures 120 mm long. Vertical investment dropouts measure 135 mm wide. The front fork has 100 mm dropouts with single eyelets. The top tube has two lower cable housing stops. The down tube has two cable housing stops and bottle cage bosses. One cable housing stop on the chainstay. The bottom bracket shell has a double cable guide installed. Has some scratches, no dings or dents.

Here is an original SEPTEMBER 1972 VINTAGE (serial number is KH) mens/boys SCHWINN VARSITY bicycle with 24″ wheels. It is in the original and very appealing KOOL LEMON yellwo colored factory paint. They did not use this color often so it is cool to find one these days! With the insanely high price of gas (and the economy being bad) now is the time to ride a cool vintage bike!

*This is a barn fresh bike that has not seen the light of day in years! It cannot wait to be enjoyed once again!

*It appears to be nearly 100% original parts from when it was new. (see pics and be your own judge)

*The tires are 24×1 3/8″. They are slightly newer vintage replacement tires and do hold air. The bike has chrome Schwinn rims front and rear.

*The bike is an original TEN SPEED and the gears do operate. The hand controlled brakes are operable as well. (may need adjustment or possible cable replacement)

*DIMENSIONS This is the perfect size bike for a shorter rider. The standover height is approx 27 1/4″. The distance from the floor to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 27 3/4″. The distance from the center of the crank to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 17 3/4″. The center of the handlebar stem to the center of the seat post is approx 18 3/4″. The bike will accomadate most any rider comfortably. The seat height is easy to adjust.

*NOTED FLAWS This bike should be considered a fixer upper type bike. It has been in very long term storage and could use a good going over. The paint is original but has lots of chips and wear. The chrome is shiney but is not perfect show quality. It has black tape on the handlebars. The rear wheel has a wobble when you spin it. If you click on any of the pics they get very large to show lots of detail. Please take a look at all pics for exact condition and email with any questions before you bid.

*I know this bike needs a lot of work but these RARELY come along. I have had special requests for these hard to find size bikes but seldom have luck finding them. I hope someone out there can give this one a 2nd chance at life!

You are bidding on a 2010 Schwinn GSE World Electric assist bike with very low usage, less than 1000 miles. Bought new end of August 2010, paid $1900 plus tax. Used only six months prior to surgery. I must sell because of hip problems and must purchase a step thru type frame style. Bike is in like new condition as you can see in the photos. Bike has 24 speeds, front wheel and seat post suspension, 700 x 40cc all weather tires, front hub Schwinn protanium motor, 24V- 180 continuous 250 watt max. Battery is Schwinn protanium lithium polymer 24-10ah. The battery, when used on low battery setting this fall would get 30-32 miles per charge,this winter it got 23 to 25 miles per charge on low battery setting, seems to do better when temperature is warmer.The battery has 3 assist levels and shows 4 levels of charge. Here is an original May 1972 VINTAGE (serial number is EH) ladies Schwinn Varsity road bike with 27″ wheels. It is in the original and very appealing SIERRA BROWN colored factory paint. If you like unrestored original bikes, this may be a great bike for you. With the insanely high price of gas (and the economy being bad) now is the time to ride a cool vintage bike!

*The Schwinn Varsity is a classic 1970s road bike! They were very popular and now you seldom see them today! This makes them really cool!

*The tires are 27×1 1/4″. They are vintage Schwinn tires and do hold air. (probably original for the bike) The bike has chrome Schwinn rims front and rear.

*The bike is an original TEN SPEED and the gears do operate. The hand controlled brakes are operable as well. (may need adjustment or possible cable replacement)

*DIMENSIONS The distance from the floor to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 30 1/4″. The distance from the center of the crank to the top of the seat post clamp is approx 19 1/4″. The center of the handlebar stem to the center of the seat post is approx 21″. The bike will accomadate most any rider comfortably. The seat height is easy to adjust.

*NOTED FLAWS This bike has been in long term storage and could use a good “once over” The paint fairly ok for a 40+ year old bike! The chrome is shiney but is not perfect show quality. It does shift and brake but needs tune up adjustment etc. If you look at the chain and some of the hardware, it does have surface rust. I have sold bikes like this for a couple hundred dollars. This is a 2005 Schwinn bike in excellent condition. It is exactly the way it came from the factory and has never had any parts replaced. It rides like brand new. It has no scratches, no dents and looks really good, with very few miles on it. I purchased it brand new in 2005 from a local bicycle shop and it has been ridden less than 25 miles.

My wife only rode it a few times. This could actually be ridden by a man, so this isn’t just for the ladies. Some call it a step-through frame and if you have trouble hiking your leg up over a top bar then this would be a good bike for you to ride.

The seat and handle bars can be adjusted to fit any size rider.

Schwinn Fastback CX Cyclocross Frame. Seat Pillar, Chain Catcher included.. Headset is not included but it takes an integrated style. This bike does not have disk brake tabs on the frame. It is in good used condition with good paint gloss and a variety of minor paint nicks or chips. There are NO dents or other signifiant damage. You might choose to have the bottom bracket shell faced at your local shop prior to installing your crank set. The installed and included headset is a very nice .
