2011 Trek 2.1 Road Bike 56cm 18lbs
2011 Trek 2.1 56cm

Look what just came through our door! One of the best arrows in Trek’s quiver… the 2011 Trek 2.1 featuring Trek’s Alpha Black tubeset. This is one of Trek’s finest non-carbon bike and one with which there is little peer with regards to fit and finish. This bike offers much of the performance of Trek’s ultra high-end carbon bikes… without the nose bleed price. Frameset is 6000-series aluminum that has been hydroformed or mechanically formed to optimize the tube shape and butting profile. Alpha Black frames are beautiful and feature smooth welds leaving the frames looking as though they were created from a single, billet block of material. This frame building technology leaves very little in the way of speed robbing weight… an astonishing 18lbs in this 56cm sizing. If that weight seems low, it is for very good reason as this bikes frame isn’t its only brag-worthy detail. The upgrade to Shimano Ultegra 6700 tubeless wheels are a TRUE performance upgrade…

The newly introduced Shimano Ultegra 6700 wheelset is not only lightweight at just over 1600 grams for the set but it’s ability to go tubeless is what makes them stand apart from the herd. Just the loss of the tube creates a significantly lighter and better riding wheelset. Factor in the increased flat protection and ride quality and you will become a convert of this new technology after just one ride. They feature 16 radially laced front spokes and 20 straight pull in the rear. They are in PERFECT condition as are the Vittoria Rubino pro tires. If there was any place on the Trek 2.1 to make it better, it would be in the wheelset as the standard issue Bontrager wheelset is simply average whereas this Ulterga wheelset is WORLDCLASS! It makes a good bike great! This is a $700 upgrade to an already stellar bike.

The 2011 edition of the Trek 2.1 stands out for one reason. The paint and graphics on this bike are outstanding. The blend ofGloss Platinum, White and Carrera Blue combine to make this a really good looking bike. It is one of the sweetest paint schemes we’ve seen in years on the Trek 1 or 2 Series bikes. This particular bike has below average ride time and has been kept indoors and out of the elements. This is an amazing bike and the components are perfectly suited to it. A perfect ride for anyone not wanting to spend thousands on a bike but still want to keep up with the fast guys and gals on the road. There are few if any marks on this bike, and it has had but one owner in its short ownership. For all intents and purposes it is basically a new bike in need of a new home. Overall condition is EXCEPTIONAL with no dents or dings and the most minimal of marks to the paint. The pictures do not do this bike justice!

The drivetrain consists of a mix of Shimano components as well as a carefully chosen mix of parts from Trek’s own in-house Bontrager brand. Shimanos fabulous Honda-like drivetrain components are spec’d all OVER this bike! Shimano 105 STI, 10 speed shifters control the 105 front/rear dérailleurs. Tektro R540 dual pivot brakes front and rear haul this bike down from speed thanks to the excellent modulation offered by the dual control Shimano 105 brake/shift levers. The 175mm Shimano R600 crankset carries 50/43T chainrings and sports a shimano HG chain. The stem, seatpost, saddle and handlebars are all Trek’s excellent in-house Bontrager units to round out the control room. The bike shifts, brakes and attacks corners as a new bike would and the overall mechanical condition is without peer. Bike needs nothing but a motivated rider! (Pedals are not included as I figure anyone looking at a bike of this type already has a favorite pedal system.)

The front fork is Trek’s Bontrager Race carbon and includes a feature unique to Trek. Trek’s “SpeedTrap” computer system allows the owner to hide a wireless speed sensor in a recess in the inboard side of the fork blade. The Flight Deck computer (available separately) then reads off this sensor not only the bikes various speed readings but also displays the gear you are in!

Bikes condition is just beautiful as you can see. Only marks I can find is a tiny paint chip at base of seatube and a small nick to the bar wrap on the handlebars. Unlike 98% of pre-owned bicycles out there, this bike has no cable rub to frame, heal rub to crank faces or marks to shifters from bike being leaned up against walls by careless owner. This is because this bike was owned by a bike shop employee so it has been taken care of like few bikes are. The wheleset and saddle upgrades bring this bike up to a true performance machine capable of hanging with spirited weekend group rides as well as increasing it’s durability and rider comfort. This is one of the smartest specifications we have seen on a bicycle in quite sometime. A bike that is capable of 95% of the performance of bicycles that cost 3X as much. Bikes mileage is unknown but it is estimated to be at 500 or less total miles.

The frame is a 56cm and has a 77.9 cm stand over height. The effective (horizontal) top tube length is 55.4cm measured cTc. A really great article on bike fitting can be found by clicking

Terms Of Auction
First, we try not to have to much “small print” but there is in fact a lot of good information about important stuff like how we pack these incredible bikes as well as why we use ONLY FedEX for the shipping and what the time frame for shipping is and why. So please read this information as it will help answer a lot of potential questions you may have about such an important purchase.
We offer no international shipping. Don’t ask, the request will be denied. Overseas fraud and high shipping costs prohibits it. If you are overseas and would like to purchase a bike you see simply make sure the bid you are placing is coming from within the U.S. (Ebay blocks foreign bidders on our listings) and that the ship to address is in the 48 continuous United States. I am happy to ship the bike to a friend or family member so long as they are here on domestic soil. Payment expected within 5 days of auction close. If you cannot pay in this period of time please contact me and we’ll work out something convenient for you. I’m easy to deal with and want any transaction I’m involved in to not only be smooth but also a pleasurable experience. Shipping will be $55 and that includes INSURANCE. Please allow up to 15 business days for the bike to be packed and an additional 4 days for FedEX insured delivery. Every so often I will get an email with regards to my shipping policies. To clarify these policies and time periods I can tell you the following…. We use FedEX and FedEX ONLY! They are the best at handling bicycles and they do an excellent job overall to make sure these very expensive and sometimes delicate machines make it to their destinations in one piece. We hand pack every bike ourselves using FedEX approved, BIKE SPECIFIC boxes. All bikes are packed using new packing materials. All bikes are shipped with proper bicycle specific plastic packing supports in place to protect the bike from crushing side loads sometimes experienced during shipping. These include the installation of plastic fork supports to keep the front fork from penetrating the bottom of the box and dérailleur side load supports and axle shields to keep the axle of the wheels from penetrating the side of the box. Also, we insert a SECOND SHIPPING LABEL in every box in case the original label is somehow pulled off the box. This ensures that the bike will make it to it’s destination. Lastly the box is sealed with industrial box staples to keep the load securely enclosed. (These are steps that other sellers on eBay just won’t do.) Oh and if you think FedEX insurance covers the bike while under their care, think again! The last thing FedEX wants to do is sign off on a claim of damage for a bike that costs as much as some used cars. They will deny the claim for the simplest of reasons. That is why we cover all the bases. We take EVERY precaution to make sure this bike is not only packed correctly but is also covered for TRUE insurance. The second reason we require a 15 business day packing window is that we, just like many of you, have a family. We do all packing of a bicycle on the weekend as it takes a significant block of time Bikes that are shipped on the weekend generally go out on Tuesday or Wednesday. (FedEX Home Delivery is closed Sundays and Mondays) Also, we do not ship when it is raining. A wet bike box doesn’t ship as well as a dry one. All these steps may lengthen the time to ship out but the one thing I can say that few others can is that my bikes will make it to you as promised, as advertised and in EXACTLY the condition that it left in. Packing a bike is something that takes experience and taking short cuts will only land you in the nightmare of the FedEX claims department which can take months to resolve. Better to do it right the first time. All bikes require a signature upon delivery. Bikes are not packed until payment is received so keep in mind that if payment takes a week to receive that means a week delay in the packing of said bike. Local pick-up is always available. Oh and a note to other ebaY sellers who do not allow for local pickup…. Your one of the small handful of things that give ebaY a bad name. Take your smoke and mirrors show somewhere else. As a buyer and seller on ebaY I find your underhanded profit tactics a disgrace and not at all in the spirit of what ebaY is… an open marketplace. Email communications should be sent through eBay’s messaging system itself. Paying with PayPal will expedite shipping. Pedals are not included with bikes unless otherwise noted as I figure anyone looking at this level of equipment already has a favorite pedals system. Feel free to contact me, Eric, anytime with any questions you may have. My phone number (858.775.7878) is listed for a reason. I not only invite your calls but I love talking bikes. There is no such thing as a stupid question so feel free to ask by email OR phone. Lastly, If you have zero (0) or negative feedback, I ask that you contact me first before bidding. I reserve the right to cancel bids from such members.
