2010 Trek 2.3 Frame Set 56 Madone Paint Yellow & Black Carbon Fork Livestrong
Up for auction is a 2010 Trek 2.3 frameset in a very rare yellow/black/white paint scheme. I’ve only seen a handful of pictures of this frame floating around on the internet. I believe these frames were given to customers that had paint warranty issues with their earlier aluminum frames as an exchange. I’m the second owner of this frame and the original owner said he worked at one of the biggest Trek dealers in Wisconsin. They received this frame as a complete bike with Shimano 105 and Race wheels just like the standard red and white 2010 2.3′s but it was to be a display or demo bike. He was able to purchase it but never got around to riding it. I bought it off of him and built it with 2010 Sram Force and Bontrager RXL and XXX bits as seen in the last picture. The bike weighed in at 17.5lbs fully dressed with cages and pedals. That picture is for reference only just to show what this frame is capable of. But this auction is not for the complete bike.
This paint scheme can be seen on the 2010 Trek Madone 6.9 which makes this 2.3 frame shine. It’s a very glossy black, white and yellow. And if you look closely in the yellow, you will see the work “TREK” appear several times. The pictures don’t do it justice. It is made from Alpha Black Aluminum which is Treks finest aluminum for road bikes. It is a size 56cm and has the performance or H2 fit with a 19cm headtube. The headset is included as well as the Bontrager RXL stem. The headset cap is about 17mm tall and there is also a 10mm spacer before the stem. It’s topped off with a Bontrager stem cap. So all you need is handlebars. It won’t be necessary to cut and fit any thing to get this frame ready to ride. Also included is a Bontrager Carbon seatpost. The fork is a Bontrager Race fork that is SpeedTrap compatible.
The only reason I’m selling this frame is because I purchased a Trek Madone frame and transfered all of my parts over to it. I would love for this frame to go to somebody that is going to build it and enjoy riding it as much as I did. I’ve gotten nothing but complements everywhere I went with this bike. And it was quick, responsive and absolutely fun to ride. I’ve never owned a carbon bike so the carbon bug bit me and that’s the only reason I’m selling this frame. On my Park scale, the bare frame weighed in at 1568 grams and the fork at 526 grams. And there is about 1,000 miles on this frame.
Now, this frame was used so it’s not perfect. I maintained the bike myself and cleaned it often. But as you can see there are two noticable blemishs. One is a mark on the upper tube right above the K in Trek. The other is right under the headset cap. I touched that one up with Subaru Aspen White touch-up paint and it’s an almost identical match…but you can still see the mark. And these marks were present when I bought the frame. So other than that, the rest of the frame is extremely clean.
I know this frame isn’t a Madone. And I know it’s not carbon fiber. But I know when I first saw this frame for sale, I had to have it and I was willing to spend a little more to have something from Trek that didn’t have red on it! Plus I’m a huge Livestrong supporter and there was pride riding a bike that I built with the Trek name and yellow on it.
I have the price set high on here because of the selling fees involved with Ebay. But I have the frame listed on roadbikereview.com as well and I’m willing to entertain offers over there. http://classifieds.roadbikereview.com/showproduct.php?product=27677 I will only ship to the continental US so I won’t answer any questions about international shipping.
