Specialized Allez Elite Compact Double 58cm

Looking for a bike with excellent bang for the buck… the 2009 Specialized Elite was the top of the line aluminum/carbon bike offered by Specialized for the 2009 model year and one of only two years that this premium frameset was offered. It is light, super efficient, and with Specialized FACT carbon seat stays, offers up a terrific ride comparable to many full carbon bikes. This was a special offering that shared it’s frameset with no other model in the Specialized lineup. The sort of bicycle that is worthy of component upgrades allowing it’s owner to grow with the bike. But one of the great things about a bike such as this is it’s durability. If you travel with your bike, this is an excellent travel partner thanks to the durability of it’s frame material. With a bike such as this, you get $2500 performance from a package that won’t break your bank.

Specialized bikes are finely crafted and finished to a standard most of the industry can’t match. They have been at the fore front of innovative bike design since their inception in 1974. So much so the 1981 Specialized Stumpjumper is actually in the Smithsonian Museum! From the beginning, Specialized had one goal… “To give everyone the best ride of their life!”. Mission accomplished.

As recently as 2005, Specialized constructed their top of the line road machines using their proprietary E5 aluminum tubeset while all the previous aluminum models such as the Allez were made using the lesser A1 aluminum tubeset. For 2009 Specialized went all out offering the E5 tubeset and carbon seat stays on this model. It made for a beautifully made frame that is of much higher quality then most any other aluminum frame at the time. These are very hard to come buy bicycles as most people weren’t willing to shell out the dollars for this model, often opting for the lower cost models such as the $800 entry level Allez Triple. But none of the lower cost models come with this fabulous E5 frame and the carbon stays nor do they offer this terrific component selection. The Allez Elite is the one to have… if you can find one.

The drive train is comprised of 10-speed Shimano 105 throughout. Shimano 105 is an excellent choice for this application as it is both durable, precise and lightweight enough to be taken seriously by those that know. With this drivetrain you have the very popular, hill friendly compact gearing (50/34t) as well as powerful dual-pivot brakes. Cranks are 175mm in length and rear cassette is 12-27t. Bike has seen a very nice upgrade from the basic Mavic CXP22 wheels to these Mavic Askium Race wheels. This wheelset offers up much of the technology of Mavics vaunted Ksyrium line at a fraction of the cost. The straight pull, bladed spokes offer up minimal wind resistance while the rim section has a semi-aero profile to further aid this wheels aerodynamic exposure. Another good thing about this wheelset is the use of brass spoke nipples instead of the often used aluminum/alloy. Where aluminum nipples often end up cracking, requiring a wheel rebuild, the brass nipples are more expensive and built to last. These 700c clincher wheels also look spectacular on this bike! Saddle is Specialized Body Geometry Avatar mounted to a carbon seatpost. Specialized bar and stem round out the control room. This is an excellent group of components that will offer many miles of reliable use. Bike has very low miles and is in beautiful mechanical condition. (Pedals are NOT included.)

Front fork is Specialized FACT carbon unit. It keeps the bike nice and light but also allows for better rider quality as well as excellent tracking and feel to the steering. Carbon forks are excellent at absorbing the minor harmonic vibrations generated by the road and are a must have on any serious performance bicycle.

The bikes overall condition is excellent. There is no marks to the frame (It is mint!) and there are no dings or dents in the frame. The bike has never been dropped or crashed and looks just amazing in person. Tires are brand new with zero miles on them as well which is a nice perk. Only the saddle and bra wrap show some minor wear. The pictures are a great representation of just how nice this bike is. If you are in the market for a terrific performance bicycle that you can grow with, this is an excellent choice.

The frame is a 58cm and has a 32″ stand over height. The top tube is 58.2cm. The bikes reach measures 27.75″ inches as measured from the center of the seat tube to the center point of the where handlebars attach to the stem. A really great article on bike fitting can be found by clicking

Terms Of Auction
First, we try not to have to much “small print” but there is in fact a lot of good information about important stuff like how we pack these incredible bikes, how we are protecting you from fraud on eBay as well as why we use ONLY FedEX for shipping. So please read this information as it will help answer a lot of potential questions you may have about such an important purchase.
We offer no international shipping. Don’t ask, the request will be denied. Overseas fraud and high shipping costs prohibits it. If you are overseas and would like to purchase a bike you see simply make sure the bid you are placing is coming from within the U.S. (Ebay blocks foreign bidders on our listings) and that the ship to address is in the 48 continuous United States. I am happy to ship the bike to a friend or family member so long as they are here on domestic soil. Payment expected within 5 days of auction close. If you cannot pay in this period of time please contact me and we’ll work out something convenient for you. (Phone number below) I’m easy to deal with and want any transaction I’m involved in to not only be smooth but also a pleasurable experience. Shipping is fixed at just $55 which is well below the average cost of bike shipping charged on eBay as well as below the actual cost of shipping the bicycle and that price INCLUDES INSURANCE!. Please allow up to 15 business days for the bike to be packed and an additional 4 days for FedEX insured delivery. It is rare we actually need this much time to get a bike out but from time to time we need a little extra time to get a bike properly packed. Each bike takes more then 2 hours to pack and we will not ship a bike unless it is packed perfectly. Every so often I will get an email with regards to our shipping policies… To clarify these policies and time periods I can tell you the following…. We use FedEX and FedEX ONLY! They are the best at handling bicycles and they do an excellent job to make sure these very expensive machines make it to their destinations in one piece. We hand pack every bike ourselves using FedEX approved, BIKE SPECIFIC boxes and all bikes are packed using new packing materials. All bikes are shipped with proper bicycle specific plastic packing supports installed to protect the bike from crushing side loads sometimes experienced during the shipping process. These include the installation of plastic fork supports to keep the front fork from penetrating the bottom of the box and dérailleur side load supports and axle shields to keep the axle of the wheels from penetrating the side of the box or the rear derailleur from crushing the frame and rear wheel. Also, we insert a SECOND SHIPPING LABEL in every box in case the original label is somehow pulled off the box. This ensures that the bike will make it to it’s destination. Lastly the box is sealed with industrial box staples to keep the load securely enclosed. (These are steps that other sellers on eBay just won’t do and buying a bike from any other private seller is an absolute crap shoot. Most times sellers of pre-owned bicycles on eBay say they will have their local shop “professionally pack” the bike for the buyer but what they don;t tell you is that their local shop often times has very little actual experience packing a bicycle for transport. Sure they unpack them and build them for sale on a retail sales floor but most bike techs really have no clue how to pack a bike. It is for that reason we truly believe our bikes are the finest pre-owned bicycles on eBay because ours are the only ones that will 100% make it to you in exactly the same condition the bike left here in. Oh and if you think the freight companies so called “insurance” covers a bicycle while under their care, think again! The last thing UPS or FedEX wants to do is sign off on a claim of damage for a bike that costs as much as some used cars. They will deny the claim for the simplest of reasons. And because we cover all our bases these shipping companies do give us special treatment over a conventional bike shop pack job so your purchase is actually insured unlike almost any other bike on eBay. Buying a bike from us is simply a lesson in avoiding huge headaches. Period. Bikes tend to ship out on Tuesdays at 5pm pst. (FedEX Home Delivery is closed Sundays and Mondays) Also, we do not ship when it is raining. A wet bike box doesn’t ship as well as a dry one. All bikes require a signature upon delivery. Bikes are not packed until payment is received so keep in mind that if payment takes a week to receive that means a week delay in the packing of your bike. Local pick-up is always welcome and will save you the shipping charge.. saving money is always a good thing! Oh and a note to other ebaY sellers who do not allow for local pickup…. Your one of the small handful of things that give eBay a bad name. Take your smoke and mirrors show somewhere else. As a buyer and seller on eBay I find your underhanded profit tactics a disgrace and not at all in the spirit of what ebaY is… an open marketplace. Email communications should be sent through eBay’s messaging system itself. Paying with PayPal will expedite shipping. Pedals are not included with bikes unless otherwise noted as I figure anyone looking at this level of equipment already has a favorite pedals system. Feel free to contact us anytime with any questions you may have but remember we are located in San Diego so be sensitive to the time you call if you don’t mind. (Had a few 4am wake up calls over the years if you catch my drift) Our phone number (858.775.7878) is listed for a reason. We not only invite your calls but love talking bikes. There is no such thing as a stupid question so feel free to ask by email OR phone. Lastly, If you have zero (0) or negative feedback, I ask that you contact me first before bidding. I reserve the right to cancel bids from such members.
